An intentional operation creates real value.

Does your organisation…

  1. deliver products that really satisfy all your customers’ needs and wants?

  2. know where to excel, and where good is good enough?

  3. understand the value of “better”?

  4. understand the pace of change necessary?

The Oe rating answers all four, with numbers.

What your site gets in five days

A comprehensive benchmarking of your operational performance against key industry metrics and processes, for a fixed price of £12,000.

Quantified upside

A clear revenue lift and cost reduction range with bottom-line impact, costed against your own numbers. In a recent assessment that range was

£6.8m to £10.0m

of contribution potential, at a single site.

Independent benchmarking

A fact base against industry metrics that removes internal bias and clarifies where you stand against peers and best-in-class operators.

Execution-ready roadmap

Prioritised opportunities, departmental views, and decisions leadership can act on immediately.

Reduced risk

Avoid misdirected initiatives. Focus leadership attention and accelerate improvement with a proven assessment framework.

Thirty years in the sector

An assessment developed through three decades of global operational transformation in food and beverage manufacturing.

Days 2–3 · On site

Two days inside your operation.
Three around it.

How it works

The week, day by day.

An engagement, not an audit — and low disruption by design. Here is exactly how each day runs.

Day 1 · Offsite

Align &prepare

A consolidated data request and pre-read, returned at least a week before we arrive — so time on site is spent looking, not collecting.

Day 1 · Offsite

Planthe week

Tours and interviews scheduled with your team in advance. Everyone knows when, and why — two days on site, three around it.

Days 2–3 · On site

Onsitereview

A full tour of the factory with site leadership, then structured one-to-one reviews with departmental heads across every function of the site. Worked through with your teams, not done to them.

Day 4 · Offsite

Assess &benchmark

Carefully developed assessment questions, scored by the algorithm and compared against peer sites — one weighted rating across seven core elements.

Day 5 · Offsite

Roadmap& findings

Priorities and an executive readout, presented to site leadership. Being there when it lands matters to us.

One weighted score, seven core elements

Our proprietary algorithm evaluates each department against seven core elements and computes a weighted Oe rating across all functions: a single, comparable performance multiplier.

  1. Objectives, strategies, measures and governance practices are established, and followed.

  2. Data drives decision-making, performance tracking and continuous improvement.

  3. Tools, processes and practices are implemented and used to achieve desired outcomes, not simply to operate.

  4. Performance is tracked, controlled and actioned at the right frequency: short-interval control, audits, inspections and escalation.

  5. Vision setting, decision-making, team motivation, and holding themselves and others to account for outcomes.

  6. Risks are identified, assessed and mitigated through frameworks, regular assessment and control measures.

  7. Issues are anticipated before they escalate: forecasting, scenario planning and proactive problem-solving.

Scores shown are from an actual UK assessment. Some elements matter more at different stages of the journey; the weighting reflects that.

Focussed efforts result in significant upside

Every site sits somewhere on the same journey. The rating places you on it precisely, and is repeated annually so progress is measured, not assumed.

  1. 1

    Operating

Inefficient, unpredictable performance. Roles and responsibilities unclear; communication runs one way.

  2. 2

    Realign

Inconsistent periods of good performance. Functions work in isolation and misalignment slows progress.

  3. 3

    Standardise

Focus moves to tackling variation. Standard leader work becomes embedded as roles and objectives become clear.

  4. 4

    Perform

A cohesive team with full ownership, mutual trust and efforts clearly aligned to business goals.

  5. 5

    Excel

Peak effectiveness. Zero tolerance of underperformance and a relentless drive for improvement at every level.

Questions, answered

The things buyers ask before booking.

Why a rating, not an audit?

An audit checks whether you meet a standard and hands back a pass or fail. This is an engagement, not an inspection: we work alongside your teams for a week, measure how much value better operations could unlock, and benchmark where each function sits on a five-level maturity curve. It is forward-looking — the output is a quantified opportunity and a plan to capture it. The ambition is simple: what the BRC audit is to food safety, the Oe rating is to operational performance.

How long does it take, and how disruptive is it?

Five days in total, with two days on site. A consolidated data request and pre-read is returned at least a week before we arrive, so time on site is spent looking, not collecting. On site is a tour of the factory with site leadership, then structured one-to-one reviews.

What do we get at the end?

A weighted Oe rating with external and internal benchmarking, every department scored across the seven core elements, a development plan for each, and a milestone plan — delivered as a written report and an executive readout, presented to site leadership.

What does it cost?

A fixed £12,000 per site, per year, with the option to pay £1,000 per month. One fee, no retainer — and it includes an annual re-rating to track progress year on year.

Will our data stay confidential?

Yes. We treat all assessment data as confidential and are happy to sign an NDA before anything is shared. Any examples we publish — like the figures on this page — are anonymised.

One site, or several?

Either. A rating works for a single site, and across an estate it lets you prioritise where to focus, compare like for like, and track progress as management teams change. The same five-level scale applies every time.

Thirty years of factory floors, distilled

The Oe rating is built by a team with three decades inside food and drink manufacturing — hundreds of deep operational diagnostics, four weeks on site at a time.

The rating distils that experience into an annual instrument: the same trained eye, structured into seven core elements, scored by algorithm and benchmarked across the industry, at a fraction of the cost of a full diagnostic.
